When Frontline informed us that they intended to report on our
Company, we proudly opened every plant to them, and gave them full access to our
employees, Community Advisory Panel members, and expert advisors. We
also provided them with thousands of pages of data and information, including
referrals to outside third parties who would verify our accomplishments.
Altogether they visited six plants and our corporate EHS offices and interviewed or heard presentations from more than 75 people, all
of whom confirmed the success of our Environmental, Health and Safety efforts.
The reporters told us that those whom they interviewed separately were also
overwhelmingly positive.
Although Frontline’s broadcast made an attempt to tell
the story about our achievements, there is simply no way to get an accurate or
complete sense of the depth or breadth of the transformation from 10-15 minutes
of a 55 minute broadcast. That is particularly true if the majority of the
broadcast time is allocated to rehashing distorted portrayals from 5 years ago
rather than describing the realities of today.
So that you can get a better
sense of the rest of the story, we have elected to post on this site as much of
the information as possible that was provided to Frontline. While there is no
substitute for seeing the plants and meeting and talking to our employees, we
hope that this information will at least give you a start toward a better
understanding of our accomplishments.
